Officer Friendly:

Police officers go into the classroom to instruct students on
 various safety topics. Topics include strangers, seatbelt safety,
 and dangers of drugs,child abuse and more. 
     

 

 

G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education And Training):

Highly trained officers teach 5th and 7th grade students about 
the negativity of gangs and the many dangers they pose to the 
community as well as teaching about peer pressure and helping

students develop positive self esteem.


 

Kid Care I.D.:

Officers take photographs of children, ages newborn to eighteen
years old. Parents are then given a booklet containing space for
their child's information along with space to put updated pictures.

 

 

Eddie Eagle:

 Eddie Eagle teaches elementary students the dangers of playing
with guns. For more information about the Eddie Eagle program,

Safety Village:

Trained officers conduct a week-long course for first 
and second grade students at the Hammond Civic Center 
during the summer months. Topics covered during the classroom 
course are stranger safety,water safety,animal safety, 
and railroad safety along with several other topics. 
Students are also taken outside the safety village each day 
and are taught how to cross streets safely, and also ride 
pedal cars and learn the laws of the road.
