"K-9 Corp" Corporate Sponsorship"

We, have successfully started a Corporate “K-9 Corp” Sponsorship program as a part of our fundraising efforts. At this time the Hammond Police Department has no specific budget set aside to support our K-9 unit. We initially raised money for our equipment needs through our Adopt-a-K9 Program. We have now expanded on this project by adding a Corporate Sponsorship Program that local businesses can participate in. The purpose of this expanded program is to raise monies that will be used to help with the replacement of our K-9 partners when they retire due to age, injury or illness and to fund K-9 related schools and seminars where our handlers and dogs expand on their expertise. While the Adopt-a-K9 Program has raised a significant amount of money for purchasing equipment, the costs for replacing our dogs far outpace the funds generated by the Adopt-a-K9 Program. 

Ø      The cost to replace a dual-purpose narcotics dog (trained for narcotics detection and patrol work) is currently between $9,000-$11,000 (including 5 week handler’s course).

Ø      The cost to replace a dual-purpose bomb dog (trained for explosives detection and patrol work) is currently between $11,000 and $13,500 (including 5 week handler’s course).

All businesses participating in the “K-9 Corp” will be listed on our “K-9 Corp” T-Shirts as Corporate Sponsors of the Hammond Police Department K-9 Unit. The donations for K-9 Corp Sponsorships will be as follows:

Ø      Basic Sponsorship - $400.00: Entitles the sponsor to be listed on the back of all K-9 Corp shirts produced during the year of membership.

Ø      Premium Sponsorship - $500.00: Entitles the sponsor to be listed at approximately double the height of a basic sponsor on the back of all K-9 Corp shirts produced during the year of membership.

Ø      Elite Sponsorship - $1000.00: Entitles the sponsor to have their logo placed on one sleeve of the K-9 Corp t-shirt. There are only two Elite Sponsor positions available. (2005 Elite Sponsors are Woodmar Animal Clinic and Krooswyk Trucking)

Ø      Prime Sponsorship - $1500.00: Entitles the sponsor have their logo placed on the right chest area of the K-9 Corp shirt. There will only be one prime sponsor position available. (2005 Prime Sponsor is Ted’s Feed Store)

Ø      All Premium, Elite and Prime sponsors will also be listed on our website’s K-9 Corp Page on the Hammond Police Department website www.Hammondpolice.com as part of the Police K-9 section of the site.

The K-9 Corp Program will be seeking sponsorships for the 2007 K-9 Corp Program from July 2006 through November 2006. Participating sponsors will be listed on all K-9 Corp shirts produced from January thru December 2007. Part of the funds generated by the K-9 Corp Program will be used to produce the K-9 Corp t-shirts which will be given away as prizes when we perform K-9 Demonstrations in the Hammond Public Schools. The balance of the money will be utilized by the K-9 Unit help replace dogs as they retire and to pay for schools, seminars and equipment for our K-9 Teams. In 2005 the Hammond K-9 Unit was able to purchase insurance on our dogs to assist with their replacement in the event of a death or an injury that dictates the retirement of a dog. The purchase of this insurance was the direct result of monies received through our K-9 Corp Sponsorship program.
