On April 18, 2007, Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr., Police Chief Brian Miller,
and 6th District Councilman Chico Hinojosa joined together in a ribbon cutting
ceremony for the newly installed surveillance cameras at the intersections of
169th Street and Grand Ave. and 169th Street and Parrish Ave. Both interesctions
are equipped with four stationary cameras and one pan/tilt/zoom camera.
The purpose of the cameras is to help in deterring crime in the Hessville area.
Once the equipment's test phase is completed, additional intersections and
cameras will be added.
